2015 BBC GENERAL ELECTION REVIEW

The best way to remind yourself about the General election results from last year is the superb interactive BBC section 

It goes through the results in terms of parties and still has plenty of analysis

You need to know the results here for British Politics AND Northern Ireland Politics. 

Please look over and make sure you can pick out key points

Obvious starters would be :

• Labour losses and the obvious threat of SNP dominance in Scotland -a one off or a sign of a permanency in relations North and South of the border? Certainly it is a big game changer to Westminster Politics where Scottish Labour has made the difference between winning and losing
• In Northern Ireland terms - the Unionist pact delivered certainly on two seats - Fermanagh - UUP gain at expense of SF and East Belfast - DUP gain at the expense of Alliance. But there was also a story that 'wasn't in the script' The UUP gained South Antrim from the DUP. This is important for 2 reasons: 1) It was seen as a sign of UUP resurgance.  2) It will perhaps make the DUP think again about future electoral pacts with the UUP.
