What a terrible week for Stormont. Swear words flying.. insults exchanged.. Now it truly looks like the corruption runs deep. Expenses.. the word that rocked Westminster to its core in 2008 is now overshadowing the NI Assembly. A Spotlight documentary, which I recommend strongly that you watch on iplayer, has exposed nepotism and corruption at many levels. The previous Speaker of the Assembly. Willie Hay MLA, has had his brother in law and office manager suspended after the cost of heating his constituency office rose from just over £200 to just over £4,000! in the space of 10 years!!
Across the floor SF have nothing to be proud of either with shadowy groups claiming expenses for 'work' which is untraceable. A group called 'Research Services Ireland' with obvious links to SF was paid over £700,000 of tax payers money for 'research' which has been almost impossible to trace.
