Pressure groups play a huge role in the American political system and have a massive amount of influence. Some critics claim that 'American Democracy is the best Democracy Money can buy' due to the influence of these pressure groups. What makes them so influential is the American system itself. The Federal system divides and percolates power so much that there are many areas which can potentially be influenced and lobbied by Pressure groups. They operate on all three branches of the political system and at every level of politics from the Federal level to States and grass roots local issues.
